Those do work well on lathes when you have a light touch.  I've never tried one 
out on the Legacy, but I would think the same rules apply.  A hose clamp could 
work as well as a ring in our modern day times.

  Hello Everyone, I was surfing the web and found this on the e-bay.  This is 
one very OLD SCHOOL chucking idea, for a lathe or even our Legacy's, for those 
who have not seen this type of chuck before, this is a JAM chuck design, the 
part is placed inside the body and the rings are taped forward causing the 
mouth of the chuck to compress, and hold the part in place. pretty simple way 
to get the job done with you spending a lot of money.
