Good idea Dexter.
I wish you luck on your new project. Dust and wood ships are something that ,so
far no-one has seemed to be able to master. Good luck and Please keep us in the
loop on this project..

Subject: Dust control idea

I was in the shop this morning cleaning up and an idea came to mind to help
keep the shop from being as messy, I have a portable two bag dust collector
that I use to try to keep things from getting too deep in sawdust that gets in
the way at times. A few years age I made a table to bolt to the top of my drill
press, One of the important jobs this tool does is to drill the holes in
cabinet doors for concealed hinges. The hole you are drilling is 1 3/16 and
about 5/8 deep and when you are doing a bunch of doors the wood chips really
pile up and get in the way. If some collect against the fence, it will throw
off the location of hole for the hinge. So what I came up with is a hollow box
under the top and cut a hole in the back center and in the side to connect the
dust collector hose. I created a "hood" that is just held in place when needed
with a spring clamp. I works great.
Well, the idea hit me that downdraft table under the Legacy could help keep the
dust/shavings build-up under the machine from building up. My machine has no
legs so it sits on top of a work bench I made as an assemble table. Alas, came
the Legacy and that took over that space. I have plans of expanding my shop and
then making a table designed for the Legacy and could incorporate something
similar to the drill press idea. Is this a workable idea?
