Hello BillI have no first hand knowledge on this CNC unit. but I was told that
Legacy had a lot of problems with gears striping out with this design. But
having said that, I think this was a good idea and a step in the right
direction,
I was dreaming (Years ago) about turning this type of unit back into a manual
machine, by the use of a worm gear, Much like the Steel Lathe I use at work, it
is both a screw and rack and Pinion.
What is your questions about this design? Perhaps someone out there may know
the answers you seek?

I'm planing on mounting a servo motor and different micro switches onmy 1200
LOM for the up and down (Z axis) to reduce the
burning most common on the start and stop which we struggle with onfluting
