Yes it dose! exactly the same way.. I have been using this same method for the
wave attachment for a number of YEARS now. Works Every time...(BUT  that was
suppose to be a secret, just between you and the 486 other members.)     :-)

Woops!

ONE small typing mistake.

Here is the step bystep directions.

Set your pitch that you want (drive gears.)

Mark the spindle(Indexing marks) ,

Then mark the gears(Gear lineament) ,

Now make yourroping/cut.

When you get to theend of your cut, just return the carriage to the starting
point, Re align thegears, Then re-engage the acme screw on the carriage ,

At this point you canmake another cut, or index your spindle to the next mark.
to continue yourroping.

talk to you all latter.

HelloSteve and Gene

Thankyou guy for replying to this posting.

Ropingis the one of the main things that got me to buy the Legacy in the first
place.

MikePungs concept of carriage indexing was the first step in the quest of
making aeasier rope. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjcFpO51upw ) If youhave
not tried his method Please do...

MyEZ indexing idea works well for me .  So far I have not run into anproblems,
(but I am still in the experimenting stages.)  The concept issimple.  use a
indexing plate that is in the shape you want to use, Fortwo starts I made an
oval, a triangle for three starts and so on... This waythere is no counting of
holes in order to index a part.

TheProblem in Roping for me was. trying to keep the proper spacing by moving
thecarriage, an trying to find the 0 mark/ starting point ,   I foundthe
spacing of the part would/could be off if the gears /acme screw were notaligned
properly.

Ifound that with a simple sharpy marker, I could mark the gears of my
machine(before I start cutting), as long as the marks are lined up  the gear
aretoo, every time, there is no room for error.

Nowhow do we use that? I needed to make an slip or way of indexing the
machinewithout loosing my orientation.

WhatI showed everyone (in my original posting) was my second attempt to use
thisconcept.

Myfirst try worked, AND, Perhaps you guys, can try it for your self's?

Thisis what I did.

Imarked the spindle that I was turning with a marker, just a dot was
necessaryto show me  the indexes I wanted.

ThenI use my double locking collar for my adjustment..
/re-index the part after every cut.

Here is the step by step directions.

Set your pitch that you want (drive gears.)

Mark the spindle (Indexing marks) ,

Then mark the gears (Gear lineament) ,

Now make your roping/cut.

When you get to the end of your cut, just return thecarriage to the starting
point, Re align the gears, Then re-engage the acmescrew on the carriage ,

And start cutting again...

Pleaselet me know what you think?

Ihope to make a video of this method? but at this time I JUST DO NOT Know how
todo that.

Ifanyone wants to come on over my place, I would be happy to show anyone what
Ido.but  I am not very computer savvy and I have no idea on how to make avideo.

Havea good night.

Ihave had my Legacy 1500 for about 6 years.  I am very interested in yourEZ

make the EZ indexer unit.  I have tried everything to make the ropedesign same
thickness,  one looks great, second fat, third soso.  Iput a motor on my unit,
made it larger and put bearings on all slidingparts.  Rope design still looks
really bad. I would like to try yoursystem.  Always enjoy reading what
everybody has done in this group. Hope I can add something in the furture.

Thankyou.

HelloEveryone, this is one of my pet projects, and is NOT FOR SALE. but if
anyonewants to make one ( I would be all to willing to explain step by step how

Icall it a EZ indexer. I made it to make the indexing more Goof Proof.

Theconcept is to have the ability to index with out having to dis-engaging
thegearing of the Legacy. Making roping a lot more simple.

Nomore moving the carriage to find the next index. and then re-winding
themachine, back to the starting point to make your offset for the next cut.

Nowall you need to do is use an index plate you choose. 2,3,4,5,6... By its
SHAPE.(No more counting holes to index.)

Allyou need to do is mark the gears with a sharpy marker, (a straight line
runningthrough all the gears. of the Legacy BEFORE you start cutting.) as long
as yourmarking lines  are straight, your gears/turning will be perfectly
alignedwith the machine every time,

Whenyou get to the end of the cut, return the carriage to the starting
point, rotate the gears until the marks line back up. Lock the carriage onto the
acmescrew. and repeat the cut, or index to the new indexing point. Since the
gearswill always be in the same alignment, the indexing will be right on,every
time.

Sofar I have only used the two point (Oval disk) and the 3 point
(Triangle)indexing plates. but it looks like the concept will work with any
indexingplate, including the Legacy's steel ones.

Mylocking nut works well.TOO,
the adapter is locked onto the drive shaft of the Legacy's head-stock.(and
willnot slip, with just a little pressure form the screws)

Thetail stock adds the pressure on to the adapter keeping the hole
set-uptogether.

Sofar I am SO VERY HAPPY with how this tool works, I just had to share the info.

Ihope you all like it.

Pleaselet me know what you think?
