My friends and relatives call me Mer. Born in Pittsburgh PA. and now live
on Camano Island about 60 miles north of Seattle. I am 83 years old and
still very active. Been wood working since my freshman days in high school.
Except for a 20 year period when the U.S. Government paid me to be a
Sailor. Then they paid me for the next 26 years to build rocket engines for
space flight. That is what paid for the 3 walls of wood working machinery
that surrounds my car in the garage.
On the west wall between the radial arm saw and the band saw is a Legacy
600EXL that I bought in the late 1990's. The last time it was used was
yesterday and like always, it performed perfectly. It has helped me build
some Ukuleles, Mandolins and a few Banjos. Yesterday it turned some very
dense hardwod 1 X 1's into dowels that will end up being the bodies of some
very fancy fountain pens, rollerball pens and mechanical pencils.
I am happy to be here and still working with wood. It has kept me alive and
still active.
                                   MER
