Ok mac my comment on larger work is based on assumption as I have not seen a
2000 mill

The mill being bigger the rails should be wider apart and there for larger dia
work would fit higher in between the rails

And there for raising the cross slide would let you mill this. Now I didn’t
give this much thought at all it was just my first thought on why anyone would
raise the cross slide higher if you can think of any other reason let me know.
And I wasn’t interested enough to look up the specs on the 2000 and work it out.

As for ebay I believe you pay the listing fees out of your profit after the
item sells if it doesn’t you don’t pay but I could be wrong on this one at
least that’s how it went for me when I listed a item a few years ago..

Hello Curtis, Bill & others,

I attempted to reply to Bill's earlier comments regarding this BIG Mill. I
never saw my post show up - so thought I'd try to Reply here and share what I
wrote. It's just my "2 cents' worth" - but here it is:

---------------------------

That Mill has been the subject of discussions here for the past year and a
half. The person posting it has been very elusive when questioned. In fact,
I'm not sure any Member has ever engaged the owner in a dialog. I'm not sure
that it is even really for sale. Must be costing the "lister" some money - not
sure how posting items for sale on eBay is priced. It currently has 30
"Watchers". I'll bet at least half are curiosity "watchers" from our Group.
I am one of them - and have been on & off for over a year.

For such a BIG and expensive machine, their listing is pathetic. They have
only one photo and the "description" is about as minimal as one could write.
If I had something that "valuable" I'd have lots of photos (minimum of 10),
including a close-up or two and at least a paragraph of descriptive info.

A technical question - in response to Bill's observation regarding the Y-Axis
gantry: How will raising it enable turning a larger diameter piece of stock.
It is my assumption that the max diameter is limited by the space between the
X-Axis outer rails and the inner rails when dropped to their lowest position.
Raising the height of the Y-Axis gantry will not enlarge that "rectangular
space".

If there is a Group Member that lives near to the mill's location (or one
traveling near it) we'd probably all appreciate them stopping by and calling
the lister's bluff - paying a visit and seeing it in person - then letting us
all know how the visit went. While you're there, give them some tips on how to
post a Mill for sale on eBay. It appears they need it.

Come to think of it, I think I commented over a year ago on this Mill. I
postulated that the owner's spouse nagged them to "get rid of it".

Since the owner did not want to part with it - but wanted to appease their
spouse - they posted it in the worst possible way they could (what we see
today).

Then they could, in good conscience, tell the spouse they had it For Sale on
eBay. Now they are both happy. Owner - knowing it probably will not sell
(especially if they don't respond to inquiries) and spouse - because it is
listed on eBay For Sale - thinking it will one day be gone.

That's my theory on this Mill in Gardena, California.

Mac

Hello Roger.

the x 4 gear sets were originally made for this Legacy.and then latter adapted
to fit other units.

Like I said earlier, if the gears are missing, And Legacy will not make any
more, then the machine is worth only the price of the scrap metal.

For me the price is to expensive to find out. (as I also posted earlier, the
owner has not even replied to my questions about this machine I e-mailed him
about,).

SAD but True, sometimes the Yankee trader motto comes to mind, "Beyer Beware".
(If it sounds to good to be true, it normally is! )

Hi Curt

Regarding your point about possible missing gears, from memory and having sold
one of these machines three times I think the gear set was the 4X Set plus it
could use the standard set. I am going back to around 2004 - 2005.

By the way I remember delivering Ray's REVO to him, it came to me when reading
his email earlier this week.

Cheers

Roger

Hey Bill

this model 2000 has been on the market for a LONG time.

I contacted the owner twice. asking question on if they have all the gears.

He never replied.

It was an awesome machine. The guy doesn't know what he has, If any of the
gears are missing this machine would only be worth scrap metal prices...
Granted the price is good, but shipping for the West coast and all the
un-known's. I personalty do not believe its worth the chance you would be
taking, if you bought it...

Big old girl here looks like its done some really large jobs I see the cross
slide has been raised higher with some rail pieces to I assume accommodate a
very large dia job. Anyone looking for a monster mill here it is
