The ruler is 14" long.  7" both side.  It's designed for the y axis. The big 
difference between my ruler and others is mine is 1/16th" increments. It was 
designed with the Incra racks in mind so you could get a repeatable location 
everytime.  It was a simple bolt on accessory.
