Another "similar" collett extender is one called the "Muscle Chuck".
Here is a link to their home page: Muscle Chuck
I'll let ya'll check the two out and decide which chuck extender is best for your particular need.
Perhaps there is/are someone in our Group that has experience using both.
If that's the case, we will certainly appreciate your input as to which one you prefer (assuming you'd choose one over th e other).
Enjoy!

yup. Worth it though if you don't have the longer bits to get to your work.

Thanks Tim.  Simple is usually the best (L brackets).

Where does one find the collet extension?

Hey Ray I have attached the pix you'd asked about.

Just having the cabinets mounted to the legacy is actually enough to damping the vibrations.

I remounted the same as the former owner had done it except I put a middle section in that sits

toward the bottom for better storage.

So pictured is the Router collet extension several guys have and the mounting bracket used. Just L brackets.

I hope that was somewhat useful.

Looks like a success Tim.  I look forward to seeing your video.

I'm thinking you could use a similar set up for flattening slabs and also doing dovetails with the proper bits.

A couple of questions:

     1. Do you have a picture of the "extension for collets that most of use"?, and

     2. How have you mounted the undercarriage cabinets so they add weight to the LOM frame to tame vibration?  Looks like they sit on      casters on the floor in your pics.

Thanks

If some of you recall a few months back I'd talked about doing dado's on my LOM 1200

Well this last 2 weeks I had  been perfecting my process so I could move out of my shop my original Safety Speed Cut over head router dadoing machine.

I have achieved that and have given my LOM the best seat in the house.

I have attached a pic or two of how I did it. Still a work in progress but I am very excited about it. I also put the original cabinets that Norm the former owner had  originally put under it. This offers a lot of weight to the legacy and reduces much of the vibration caused by our Routers and the extensions for the collet that most of us use.

I did a short video of using it but may have to somehow down load that a bit differently.

Let me know what you guys think.

Kind Regards,
