The closest that I've done, is to take a glass chess set, and then make a box, in which the glass table is set into, The box is a storage area for the parts, the glass top makes it so you can see the pieces inside (when not in use.) I am not in favor of Large chess sets, and although I am today working with smaller parts then I used to on the Legacy, Making 26 small parts would be to much like work to me. ;-p If you do try to take on this venture, Please let us know. I know it could be done but I have already to many projects that I "want" to get done, The time it would take, is just something I would rather not spend my time on. I'm much like you, on this topic. I always suggest to people to PLAY with there equipment as much as you can, then and only then should you go out and try to make money, or build a project. There is a pretty good learning curve on the Legacy, Its not a hard machine to work, but If you don't understand, how is works, and it's (the machine's.) little quarks ,things can and will go wrong quickly when you least expect it. It's like Climb milling vs Undercutting. (see link.) and how it not only effects the spindle while cutting, By knowing simple things, You can get a better looking cut, An example would be, like how the end of the cut looks, IS it a clean cut, or is it one with chipped edges or worse? Depending on how the router cutting edge is working, It is either lifting the wood up when it cuts, or is it cutting the grain downward? (there are advantages and problems that you need to know about when using either method.) By knowing how the cutting edge is working, you can plan to eliminate the tare-out in areas where you don't want it. as well as make the process safer for the user.
