My original plan was to make a 12 flutes on a rope pitch form the side of the spindle. (3" pitch) but, On the second cut, the part moved/ slipped on the mandrel. So in an attempt to save this turning, I tightened the lock nut on the mandrel, And went around a second time, making it 24 flutes.  Adding 12 more flutes, takes away a lot of detail, but I think it will still make a nice gift when done.
