I suspect many of us are assuming that we know what the other means when terms like "global preference", "apply", "default", "stick", etc. are used. I think that we may be using the terms differently. To be more clear... As stated by others, Legacy already has a means to sort events for all individuals (and I assume marriages) "globally" on a one-time basis. See Check/Repair. You can try it yourself (I recommend making a backup first) to see how it works. The checkbox for sorting events does not "stick", and any event you add later still goes at the end regardless of Event Date. It also sorts events without an Event Date to the front, which would be a disaster for me. What I would have absolutely no problem with (except for prioritization with other enhancements and bug fixes) is the following... Add a new option under Options>Customize>Data Entry. It might read something like this... "Insert new events in chronological order by Event Date" The "default" status of this checkbox would be "unchecked". If subsequently checked, from that point forward Legacy would *attempt* to insert any new event in its proper position by Event Date. I say *attempt* because there may be some scenarios (like events that are not in chronological order to start with) where the software will have to make a best guess. It would *not* attempt to re-sort any existing events for that individual or marriage. It would assume that if existing events were out-of-order, they are there intentionally. In other words, Legacy would analyze the existing events and choose what it thought was the *best* position in the list to insert the new event, bumping any subsequent events down in the list. To be perfectly honest with you, since this is a feature I probably would never use, the exact mechanics of how it would work are unimportant to me ... except for making it optional and keeping the default behavior to the way it works today. -- Dennis Kowallek [EMAIL PROTECTED] (P.S.
