Thanks, Mike! That looks like an interesting approach. I will give it a try. I'm trying to list those in the U.S. who were alive in 1930, but do not have and entry for the 1930 census. I'm not sure how I would search on "has a 1930 census event", though.

Well, the exact details of how to search on "has a 1930 census event" depend on what you've recorded in your database.

I was assuming you've added a census event for each person you found in the census. If that's so, then in the Search dialog, you can go to the Detailed Search tab. In the "Where to look" dropdown you would select Event-Name, "How to look" would be "Equal To", and "What to look for" would be "Census". That by itself would give you anybody who had any census event. To narrow it down further, you'd need to add a second (And) condition with something like Event-Date Equal To 1930, or After 1929, or whatever works.

(If you haven't already added census events, I don't know how you've recorded which folks are in the 1930 census, so I don't know how you could find either them or the ones who aren't.)
