Brian I think that the logic error comes from "consequently..." The Legacy Backup doesn't restrict you to doing a backup to the same drive or even the same machine. - you can do the backup to anywhere and copy to a CD or ram stick - you can do the backup to another physical drive - you can do a backup across a network
I keep my data on one machine and backup to another, so that barring a fire I shouldn't lose both. I also keep every backup and occasionally "dump" old ones to a spare drive. To cover the fire problem I will probably copy occasionally to my web site in a passworded folder (you've all got me paranoid now about having a fire!). As the copy on my laptop is always out of date, I'm also toying with the other idea of storing the data on a ram stick and backing up to the hard drives, but how reliable are the sticks compared to a disk?
