Hi Ron,

Sorry - your comment about footnotes and Pedigree pages confused me as the Pedigree Report isn't footnoted.

The appropriate page for footnotes is the page on which the footnote number occurs. This is the normal procedure for many footnoted books. Others have notes at the end of each chapter and still others at the end of the book.

Personally I wouldn't want footnotes at the bottom of each page of a genealogy report as there would be too much repetition - or a complicated method of referring back from page 6 to a footnote on page 2. It's theoretically possible but unless you don't have many sources, I wouldn't think it was practical.

Many books have more footnotes on a page than text.

Not really, Cathy. I have an Ancestor Report for my grand children obviously, with the sources at the end. If the option not to start a new page with each generation is selected then it would be impossible to include them anywhere in the middle.

If the option to start a new page with each generation is chosen then they could be included at the end of that generation but not after the family to whom they refer - which is what I would consider to be the "appropriate" page.

I suppose it hinges on one's definition of "appropriate" - which sums up my reservation.
