Beth, I do not regularlu use the fromatting options, however, since seeing your email I have been having a look at this.
As far as I can see what is happening is that the Spell Checker is trying to change a lower case letter to an upper case. If you go to Options in the Spell Checker and uncheck "Case Sensitive" (which is set by default) then the formatting codes do not show. The side effect of this is, of course, that, to quote the Help Files, "canada" will not be deifferentiated from "Canada" Ron Ferguson _____________________________________________________________________ For Genealogy, Software and Social visit: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/fergys/ *Use Legacy Search - see My Blogs* Includes the family tree for Alan J Grimshaw http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/fergys/Grimshaw/ ______________________________________________________________________ ---------------------------------------- > Date: Tue, 5 Dec 2006 20:39:56 -0600 > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: LegacyUserGroup@legacyfamilytree.com > Subject: [LegacyUG] Global spell checker and formatting codes > > Greetings from the cold south, > > When I use the global spell checker and select the general notes field > the text includes the formatting codes for bold etc. which are selected > by the spell checker.
