Susan, perhaps the best way is by an example.

Suppose I have entered the location as "St Helens, Lancashire, England" as the 
full address and subsequently find the name of the Parish in St Helens for that 
particular individual say, "Parr".

Let us also say that I do not have a location of "Parr, St Helens, Lancashire, 
England" already in my files. 

I can simply insert "Parr, " at the start of the address in the edit field and 
a new location will be created automatically, *without changing any other 
location in the Master File*.

If this facility was not available I would have to delete and type it out in 
full. (and I am basically lazy!)
