I use a master source for all birth records from the same facility. For example if I have 4 birth certificates that were issued from the NY City Dept of Health, then I would cite the Master Source as Birth Certificate NYC Dept of Health. If I obtained an older certificate that was originally issued by the Dept of Health but was issued to me by the City Archives, then I would cite the master source as Birth Certificate NY City Archives.
