Renee,
Legacy does not work in the way you think. There is a default setting in
the Options > Customize > Sources which is the value Legacy will
"fill-in" for each new Source Detail you enter. When you are in the
Master Source list the Options > Set Surety level will do a global
change to all the Source Details associated with that Master source at
the time you use it.
Note also that the Surety is set on the Source Detail NOT the Master
Source. We set the surety at the source detail level because a source,
like a death certificate, may have a very high surety for a death date
but if that death certificate is also used as a source for a birth date
the surety is much lower.

I would like to be able to permanently change the Surety Level
settings for individual sources. I don't want to change the global
setting. I have tried going into the master source list, going to
Options and clicking on Change Surety Settings. But this doesn't seem
to work. It reverts back to the global default and I still have to
change the surety setting each time I use the source. It would be
nice to be able to set the surety when you add or edit a source. Does
anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Renee
