Barb,
This was my situation and the steps I took to solve the problem:
"Run-time error '75':
The specified Path/file name cannot be accessed or is invalid"
I get this error when clicking Chronology Tab for:
grandfather or grandmother on mother's side
I do NOT get the error when using Chronology Tab for grandfather's second
wife.
It is OK for:
a. maternal grandmother's sister
b. paternal grandfather or grandmother
c. grt grandfather or grt grandmother on mother's side
d. my wife's maternal grandmother
e. grt grandfather and grt grandmother on mother's side
Attempts to fix:
I ran File Maintenance > Check Repair 3 times - still get error 75
I have exported to a new Legacy file - still get error 75
I have restored a file from six months back - still get error 75
I have deleted Chron.usr file
THAT FIXED IT
I'm sure glad that fixed it 'cause I was/am out of ideas.
Maybe one of the REALLY smart people on the list will bail you out pretty
soon - best of luck
Jim

Hi Jim, Tried as you said , deleted the Chron.user file under Legacy.
Sorry to say that did not work. The Chron.usr file rebuilt itself but I
still get the same error 75. This is with the same person "Daniel" and
also his wifes "Jane" and "Lydia". Any other suggestions?? Anyone??
Everything seems to be ok. but after the error Legacy closes down.
Barb

Hi Barb, This is not Ron, but......
I recall a problem similar to yours not so very long ago. I deleted a
file
called
Chron.usr
and then everything was fine again.
You can find that files in your Legacy program files - probably under
C:\Legacy
After deleting this file, it will be automatically regenerated the next
time
you run Legacy.

Hi Ron, Yes this happens on both my laptop and my PC. Legacy seems to
load all-right and run fine until I try to view a chronological page on
this one Daniel Weed. Then I get the "run-time 75 error, cannot open
file/name". I tried opening my last backup and the same thing happens
but
only with this same person. I had not worked on this line for awhile so
I
don't know how long this has been a problem. Can anyone help? I love
the
chronology report and was going to send a copy to my sister in law who is
working on the same family.
I am the only one using my computer and I am the administrator. Nothing
has changed as far as I know.

Barb,
Does this happen on both your lap-top and your PC and and it would seem
that
you run your programs from the Adminixtrator Account, is this so? (It it
not
got practice to run anything directly using the Administrator's account
btw,
one should set-up a User Account for oneself).
If you are running from a User Account have you checked the permissions,
in
case they have changed somehow?

Well hello group. After years of use and no problems, I have gotten a
run-time error 75!!
The help files say that this has to do with not being an administrator
and
to go into control panel and give yourself administrator powers. I am the
only one using this computer and I am the administrator. The 'guest' has
been disabled. This error only happens when I try to open the
chronology
page on one particular person. I have done the maintaince and compacted
the files but I can find no error and no reason for this error 75. I
have
checked the archives and did not find any mention of this error in the
LUG.
I am using windows on both my computers (not Vista) Legacy is on the C
drive of both laptop and stand-alone and my database is on a Kingston
thumb-drive. Have used this method for some time with no problems. Can
some one help?
