Glen,

As a regular user of Open Office I would strongly advise caution on using it to amend one's files. I am not sure about compression (haven't tried it) but changing a file in OOo's Base (equivalent to Access) and then saving it as a .mdb file may cause errors. So any work should be done on a copy of the file and thoroughly tested on/with a scrap .fdb file before incorporating back into Legacy.

Good advice whenever using Access anyhow :-)

It is an MS Access file. You might try to find a friend with Access 2000 or try the free OpenOffice.org product and see if Base will work and compress the file for you.

Glen,

I have checked and I do not have MS Access 2000. Is there another way to do
this I have tried opening it several ways but no luck.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

If you have MS Access 2000, you can open the .IGI file in Access and compact
the file.

When you save entries and then delete them, the database doesn't
automatically release the place holder for that data.
