Hi Valerie,
I suspect you aren't getting answers as you've asked a huge question
that is best addressed by the Help file and trying things out.
I don't know what you mean by "two different 'to do lists'"
You can have General To dos - to do with the whole family file or
particular surname rather than an individual - or individual to dos
You can access Individual To-dos through Family View etc but also
through the Research Guidance where you can add a To-do based on
suggestions made there. The initial screen isn't the full To Do
screen you get from the Family View but that screen is accessible by
clicking the To Do button. Not two lists but two ways of accessing
and adding to the list.
When adding To Dos pay attention to Locality - where you expect to do
the Research - not where the event happened - and Repository - the
actual Library where you'll research.
Depending on how you use Locality, these may overlap.
For your purpose of travelling in Ireland, I'd use Locality for each
place you plan to stop so you can list the tasks that can be tackled
at those places.
Note which tasks can equally well be done where you live rather than
taking up your precious time away. Time away is best spend doing
things that can't be done at home - which includes some records -
like local newspaper archives - and of course soaking in the
countryside, villages and towns.
Try entering some To dos and try the sorting options for the report.
Re your specific example - that's 3 to dos
Death
Burial
Will
yet you say you already have that information in your database -
what's the source? How do you know she left a will?
your answers will suggest whether the locality for this research is
the person who told you the facts you have or other repositories.
Cathy
PS I understand it's pouring bucket loads in Sydney - not at all sunny

some help with this question. There seems to be two different " to do
lists ".
