As I am reviewing citation format for family letters, and I have a few of questions I hope someone else has experienced. I am doing an inventory of a few hundred personal letters, many containing information that I will enter into Legacy and thus list the letter as a source. Here is the problem: is the author of the letter necessarily the EXACT signature or return address name? In my inventory, this creates a problem because some letters are signed or the return address is given as (for example) Annie Smith, Mrs. William Smith, Ann Smith, A.B. Smith etc.
The second part of this question is in the case of Ann Smith being married four times and writing letters under those four names. Should I use four different names, yet be consistent - Ann B. Jones (not Mrs. John Jones), Ann B. Smith (not Mrs. William Smith), Ann B. Davidson (not Mrs. Richard Davidson), etc.? And, if a letter is just signed by the woman's first name with no return name, how can I even know which married name she was going by at the time? Hope y'all have some ideas on this one, Thank you, Denise Have you unlocked the real power of Legacy? Legacy 6.0 Deluxe has 92 features not found in the Standard Edition.
