If it's not cost-prohibitive, I would purchase new "view" binders - the ones
with the clear outer cover that allows you to slip in a custom cover and
spine on cardstock. I wouldn't think it would cost much more than those
metal-framed tag holders that might be difficult to attach to a binder.

But, if that's not an option, I'd definitely stick with the pen, assuming
you're talking about those permanent metallic markers (e.g., Sharpie).
Better yet, one of those paint pens that uses an oil base paint (even more
permanent). You can get them at craft shops or art supply dealers.

In my experience, adhesive labels are virtually guaranteed to fail on
binders eventually.

Good luck!

Subject: [LegacyUG] OT: marking spines of leather binders/boxes

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to label the spines of black
box/binders or regular binders? I was thinking of just a silver metallic
pen, but anyone knows of other fasteners that can be ordered with paper
insertions (brass or silver tone frames), I might prefer it. I mean simple
labels like "Walker" or "Death Certificates."

I know this is off-topic. Replies welcomed to my private address.
