Have you already imported the file into your primary Legacy database? If not:
I'm assuming it is a GEDCOM:
1) Make a backup copy of the GEDCOM
2) Use any text editor to edit it and take out the duplicated notes. You may have to take out the GEDCOM header for those notes also.
3) Try importing into a temporary Legacy database and see if that worked.
4) If not, try playing w other GEDCOM entries in the GEDCOM that might be related. 5) Once cleaned up, THEN merge that temporary Legacy database into your primary one.

Or, if this is a Legacy file (but not yet imported into your primary database), you could try creating a GEDCOM, and then doing the above, and then importing that new GEDCOM

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Clearing Notes

I have received 268 new individuals from a cousin. The note screens contain
a lot of her general personal data which is not needed (I made a source
entry to replace) and this is repeated in the notes for each individual. I
did a search and replace and did a global deletion. However, it appears
"deleting" does not "clear" the screen. Each individual still has the
wording "General Notes" which shows up on reports and the space previously
occupied by the data also retained - makes a mess. I really do not want to
clear each note screen individually as tedious to say the least. Is there
someway to do a global clear to wipe all clean as if it was never there to
begin with? Any advice appreciated.............

Tom
