And most software companies are lucky that they CAN delay a release if
needed. The company I worked for the longest as a software developer
had a very set schedule - we needed a new release (not necessarily a
MAJOR release, but generally pretty major) every 6 months - and it HAD
to be ready for the 2 major trade shows in the industry. It was
really hard if a bug showed up late - because it HAD to get fixed!
