It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure the documentaion explains it completely. So I have a few questions: Legacy is said to assign a serial number to a datafile for use by Intellishare; is that automatic, or must one initiate that when sending out a copy of the master file? You can't NOT generate an intellishare with Legacy6. It's automatic. You can see intellishare # from the Index tab by default I believe. If not click Options / Customie Columns. Does the file sent out have to be a Legacy file, or a gedcom, or...? Legacy file or gedcom or PAF5 or ? All carry the intellishare. In a non-intellishare merge the right intellishare number is deleted. Does the intelishare file have to be the entire family file, or can sub-sets of a larger file be used? Not sure what you mean but yes you can merge a subset back in. Does intellishare compare picture/sound paths as part of the merge, i.e., must all users have the same path structure to external objects? Yes! Otherwise if all else is the same but same photo or source picture exists in both files in different directories the merged file will have both (duplicates). If one or both collaborators has their multimedia in "My Documents" the multimedia will not merge but will duplicate. -- Richard Van Wasshnova Seal Beach, CA Give Legacy as a Gift for 25% Off.
