Not exactly the same. A Christening is seen in Roman Catholism (and related denominations) and is done when the child is an infant. Baptism is seen in protestant faiths and can occur either when you are a infant/child or sometime after the age of accountability (depends on the denomination). Those that believe in Christening and infant baptism USUALLY believe this is a requirement for salvation. Those that believe in baptism after the age of acountability believe that you have to make a conscious decision to be saved and that baptism is a show of obedience and the act itself doesn't save you.

I realize this is a VERY short explanation and there are many varables but I was trying to get it in a nutshell for Mary (for example, if you do not convert to Catholism until later in life it is different). This is a very hot topic I know and I hope it doesn't spark a fight :)

What's the difference between Christening and Baptism? Thought that
they were the same, just different names used by different religions.

I have a large number of Baptisms in the Events field.

Understood

When dealing with each individual I can swap the information for the
Christening
field, but this involves a lot of mouse work as I then have to delete
the baptism event.

What sort of information and where is it, and if you are swapping from
the Christening Event to the Baptism Event why are you deleting the
latter?

I have a long list where there is a baptism in the
events field, but is there any way I can swap all of them with one
action rather than each one individually, please?

Swap what from what to what ( eg. the field name, the information)?

Elizabeth
