Michele,

I may be misunderstanding you, but I take it that you mean when entering an 
address into a Residence Event, or Birth, Death etc. you would like the to be 
able to enter the short version at the same time. If so, yes you can.

At the end of the field where you enter the location there is a blue down 
arrow, click on this and it takes you to that entry in the Master Location List 
then click Edit which shows both the long and short version as you accurately 
describe. You can then just edit the Short Location. Once this is done the same 
Short Location will be used for each entry of the Long Location.

As far as I know there is no way of automating the full process - how would the 
PC know what you wanted to put there in the first place?
