Thanks to all three.
I have successfully reinstated the three children to the correct MRIN;
unlinked the three rogue marriages - which have now disappeared and run
File/maintenance with no problems showing up, so I trust all is solved.

If you merge or delete frequently...always run file/maintenance frequently
I agree with Ron...no bugs associated with these procedures.

Thanks Cathy and Ron. I did, in fact, delete each child first and then
found, when unlinking the marriage (from the marriage list screen, not
the family view) that there were, apparently, no children to this rogue
marriage. Actually one time when I did this, the programme crashed, so
I think there was some bug somewhere.
Now to try and reinstate the three missing children to the correct MRIN.

There is no need to delete the children and in fact I would advise
against this. Decide which of the parents are the "correct" ones, or
the ones with the most information/other links attached. Unlink the
children concerned from the current parents and attach them to the
"correct" ones then delete the rogue parents. Follow the same
pattern, if necessary, for the other rogue parents.

I have further looked at my file and now find that each of the last
three children added have been linked to one of the odd extra
marriages.
My instinct is to now delete each of these children, hope that the
marriages disappear too and then re-enter the children again to the
original marriage.
Does this make sense? Obviously I'll backup first.
