Nina,

The speed of a PC is dependent on many factors not just the size of the files.
I am getting ready to change mine at the moment for just that reason.

However, although I have some 5000 records in Legacy it is not these which slow
mine down but too little memory, with all the other stuff which I have running!
I would not imagine that you will notice any difference in speed by merging the
two files. There is no point in waiting for version 7 as my guess is that it
will take up even more memory that version 6 (but don't let that bother you).

I have two Legacy files, too. I have hesitated to put them together because of
the larger file size when the two are put together. I only have 500 in one and
800 in the other. Will combining slow the program down? Maybe I should just
wait until Legacy 7.0 comes out? [EMAIL PROTECTED] Nina

I often have two files open on the split screen view. It is easy to put the
same information on both files, as the program stores the information from
the edit screen until the next screen is saved. I enter information on a
person in one database, and after it is saved I go to the other database and
pull up the same person, then just click the 'given', 'born', and 'in'
labels. I suspect you can do the same type of entry with the clipboard as
you do in a single file.
