Reg,

I hate to burst your bubble so to speak, but this is just like a beta
release of software. It is only available to a limited number of people at
first. It will be available for free to the entire world at some point.
(The talk is late in 2008, but we all know how timelines can change.) The
"Church" will always share what it has with the world. Infact, they are in
the process of scanning all the records they have stored in their archives
to share with the World for free. You can search for the ScanStone project
on the web to find info about that. They are also indexing records and
sharing the work with the World for free.

Momalot66: Currently you can't download that I know of, but would have to
manually enter the names (which I prefer to do to control the way place
names, etc... are in my database). Once the nFS has been released to the
world and Legacy is allowed to release the interface with nFS, you should at
that time be able to add connected relatives.

Once it is available to the general population, Legacy will be releasing an
updated "Search the IGI" feature to interact with the newFS (New
FamilySearch).

Reg, If you would like access to nFS before it is released to the general
population, you can volunteer in a Family History Center near you. The
director of the FHC will then contact the powers that be and get you a
userID for nFS.
