This brings up something interesting I recently had happen.
I was doing a sort of some of my images on my hard drive using Picassa -
and noting which ones I was moving to new folders so i could change the
associations within Legacy. What I found was when I opened Legacy to
start changing those links - they were already showing the new folders
etc. I didn't have to do anything.
Did Legacy do that? Picassa? Or did I just luck out and do it under the
right sign of the moon?

Hi Cathy
I have in many cases completely re-worded the file names, so
using Access wouldn't help.
I have just found by trial and error that the only way to get the
changes to stick is to do them through the Picture Centre. I know
some were added there in the first place, but am surprised that I
had to use it to change the files.

Hi Jennifer,
If you have changed the filenames simply by replacing the
ampersand
with another character and the pics are still in the same
folders,
then the easiest way to change them in Legacy is in Access with a
Search and Replace on the relevant table. tblBR
If you have Access, try it on a copy of your database. This sort
of
operation is relatively easy. Other things in Access are beyond
me.
I have no idea why the name change isn't sticking.
Have you tried via Options > Customise - Test all multimedia
paths
button? You can browse for the right pic there as well.

Yes, Ron, I know I should not have my files like that, but there
was a time I didn't. I don't mind changing them, what I do mind
is that once Legacy finds the ones I have changed they will not
stay in the individual's photo gallery. On subsequent opening
the
individual's photo gallery Legacy keeps telling me the path is
broken after I have found the correct path and said yes to
changing it.

Jennifer,
This is not a problem with any change in TNG - if it worked
before you were very very lucky. The fact is that ampersands are
not allowed in any file names, notes or anything else at all on
webpages as they have a specific meaning in html. It is best
never use anything other than alphanemeric and the "_", "-"
symbols in file/folder names (not even spaces).
I am afraid that there is no easy solution to the problem unless
you have Access and are familiar with it's workings, in which
case you can do a search and replace.
