I also file by MRIN numbers. Have a look here - this is the
system I use.

Subject: [LegacyUG] How to record ID numbers

Hello Listers
I am just starting to go over my files to put ID numbers in for
each source

I have lots of handwritten (by me) documents mainly transcripts
of Census (before Ancestry)
I intend to copy the census etc into Legacy then give them an ID
number

I file my families by MRIN number so I want to able to retrieve
these documents quickly from those files and I wondered how
others number them. My own file is MRIN 1
The help file didn't !
Regards
John
