Carol, As Heather says, File Maintenance does not remove unlinked individuals. To find them again, choose View>Tree Finder... and this will show each "tree" in your file. Any unlinked individual will show with a count of 1, i.e., a tree with only one person in it is, by definition, an unlinked individual.
