Ron,

In the UK we have a TV series called "Who do you think you are" and they
recently did an episode of the family history of one of our Olympians (IIRC it
was the rower James Cracknell) and it turns out that he is distantly related
through various peerages to one of our Kings.

In the Middle Ages, or perhaps earlier, it seems it was common for the members
of the peerage to retain their family tree and when they got as far back as
they could they linked it to God as the "Creator of all Life".
