My more specific question is, for anyone who missed the implication:
When Legacy has their printing service up and running, will you be
telling us what is required in the way of pixel dimensions and dpi for a
good outcome?

Yah, I can count. I was a Maths/Physics honour student in

Perhaps the concept of pano is unfamiliar to you. It's where you
stitch photos side-by-side to make a very wide and/or long one.

I'm not at all certain I understand what you're trying to do, but
twelve (12) 6" pictures would be 72", not 54". 54" is nine (9) 6"
pictures.

Judging by my graphics editor, it looks like a 2048 pixel wide
photo, best quality off my digital camera, would print out at 6" at
300 dpi.
I'm making a 4 generation chart that would print out at around 54"
wide. So taking into consideration the overlap and curvature in the
making of a pano, to be on the safe side I would need to take 12
pictures across. That's a total of 24,576 pixels wide. But only
around 18,500 pixels in actuality.
