Even though Ms. Mills way of citing sources isn't globally known or accepted, the most important thing is making sure that your citations are CONSISTENT and that is why she wrote the book in the first place. As long as you are using a CONSISTENT system then just stick with what you use. Ms. Mills took the best of several different systems to make something that would work for all of the unique things that genealogists cite (like census records).

Here in the US, Ms .Mills' system has been the format used by most professional genealogists though not everyone adheres to it and that is ok. Consistency is the most important thing along with making sure you record enough information that someone that comes behind you would be able to easily find the source you cited.

I also adhere to Ms. Mills' formats in her book "Professional Genealogy" in regard to the way reports are written. Again, it is consistency that is important. If you do it the same way every time is it less likely you will forget something.
