Relationship Calculator and Tools > Set Relationship both work, very quickly - with approx. 8500 individuals. However, non-blood relationships do not display on the Family View for more than two generations, regardless of how many generations I have selected to display. For example, I can only get as far as Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law, Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law - what happened to husband's niece or niece-in-law etc.

An 8th cousin, 5 times removed displays almost instantly. But "Tools > Set Relationship" function still does not work.
