MessageLegacy V7 installed in C:\Legacy by default, not C:\ProgramFiles\Legacy
on my XP computer.

It may do different on Vista.

When every you overwrite any file, with any program, the previous files are
replaced by the new ones.
    Yes

Legacy installs to C:\Legacy by default.
Legacy use to default to C:\ , Now it defaults to C:\Program Files\Legacyv7

If you want to keep old version(s) of Legacy and have new one just install
Legacy7 somewhere else like
    c:\legacy7

then if you want to keep you old Database Files for Ver 5.
Copy the old version 5 files

if you are talking .usr files. If you are talking about moving the actual
program files, uninstall from the uninstall from the start menu or control panel

(usually located in "C:\legacy\data" into the new Legacy7 Location\data

they will be converted. Keep your data files in different place. v2, v3, v4
etc.

If you open database files with new version once converted previous
versions will no longer be able to access them. This is how most programs
work.

    Correct.

If you didn't want to convert, keep the same version.

Correct. I tried to download Version 5 which was on my
desktop...and I received the mssage "Are you sure you want to deleter Version
7.0. If you could give your exact steps, we may be able to help you better.
Downloading Ver5, and so on.
