It would be easier to do an export from my previous program, because I haven't added any new people since I imported into Legacy. Unchecking undesired people would be a bit of a problem, since I'd have to eliminate more than 10,000 people. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to maintain two separate databases, though. I appreciate your input. On 22 Jul 2008 at 10:50 PM Jenny M Benson wrote: >Carol Hall wrote >>Sorry, folks. I ought to have searched before writing to the list. I want to make one book that includes both my ancestry and my husband's, which cross in a number of places. (Right now we're at 16 common ancestral couples and counting.) To make it easier for both my husband's family and mine to find their own ancestry, my plan is to have each surname line from the immigrant until it "daughters out." I want to include the whole family in each generation, but just carry down the next generation in our line. I know that's not the way it's normally done, but it was the best way I could think of to create something that was truly useful for all of our relatives. Otherwise, I would need to set up a number of different books to give to different people, depending on our relationship. At the same time, I'm working on a more comprehensive website with information about all of the descendants of my "main" immigrant ancestor. It would be nice if I could do it all with one database. My "creative" solution may be to create a series of one-generation reports. Of course, I'm not sure how many reports you can add to one book. Maybe I'll find out of there's an upper limit. I really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
