WELCOME to Legacy (from a former FTM user)!

The answer to your specific question is to click on "add a new son" or "add
a new daughter"; then when on the resulting "Child's Information" screen,
look to the right of the Title Suffix box and there are three radio buttons:
M, F, ?. Click on the "?" You will then notice that, in the parents listing
of children, that child will be in italics.

As you get more familiar with Legacy you will find the "help" tab very
useful; however, please keep asking questions here.

Regards, John
