How many backups should one keep of a file?
I think the "3-generation" system is sufficient for most people's needs.
This means that each time you create a third backup of a file, you
delete the first backup
For example:
On Monday you backup and call the backup "Monday."
On Tuesday you backup and call the backup "Tuesday."
On Wednesday you backup and call the backup "Wednesday" and you delete
"Monday."
On Thursday you backup and call the backup "Thursday" and you delete
"Tuesday."
etc.
