Windows 7 will probably be the best solution.  In the mean time, I use "The
Tornado".  It has two USB cables to connect between the computers.  Once
connected tiled windows opens up showing files on each computer.  It's easy
to drag and drop from one to the other.

Or, you could wait for Windows 7 which will allow all Windows 7 users in
your network to have all files accessible from all networked computers.  No
more sharing folders, sending, switching machines, etc.  Doesn't help right
now, though, but it is coming.

I use Windows Live Sync to accomplish keeping the info the same on both
computers. I am not totally pleased but it is free.  sync.live.com/
