I am late responding to this.
What I do is keep my primary data and multimedia on a 40GB USB drive.
When I use my laptop, I remove the USB drive from my desktop and
attach it to my laptop. I always backup when I leave Legacy and
backup to the hard drive of whichever computer I am currently using.
So I am always using the same data files no matter which computer I am
using. I have been doing this for several years and it works great for
me.
Good luck.
