Vicki, I’ve never done it, so I'm not absolutely sure but I would guess that if the drive has the same 'drive letter' (e.g. H:) on both systems so that Legacy uses the same path to the data file on both systems, it might work.
The alternative is using some sort of file synchronization tool. There was a thread about Dropbox on this list in the last few days that you can find in the archives, but there are others available too.
