To back up before running check/repair or to run check/repair before backing up......that is the question. LUG seems to be pretty evenly split. Thanks for all the input. For me, since I currently have no visible problems, I think I will back up before the check/repair, BUT I will note that the backup was before check/repair. My decision would be different if I suspected a corrupt file. Once I've looked at the error.log or discovered that there were no errors, I guess that I will run check/repair more often before I back up. Keeping track of backups seems to be essential here.
