Carol,

You can find people in the SSDI with birthdates as early as 1874. Although
they are few of them, it just might be that they are there. You may not find
many that died before 1940 or even 1961 but there are a few. The death index
was not computerized until the early 1960’s Entries before that time are
spotty. Another thing is that self-employed people such as farmers were not
required to get a SSN until the early 1950’s. You should go ahead and tag
these people and give them a quick check to see if they are there.

Bobby

Part 1 first section
Why have you put 1873?

I can understand 1935 in 2nd section as SS only started in a limited way then
but I don't understand after 1873 for birth date.
My husband's grandfather was born in 1870 and died in 1965 and is shown in
SSDI. It's not a mistype as I have a copy of his SS application form.
Or have I misunderstood your system?

Carol

Here is my way of finding those who may be included in the SSDI and have not
been found or entered into Legacy.

Detailed Search

How to look? After

What to look for? 1873

I want to conduct a Social Security Death Index search blitz and try to locate
entries for all the eligible people in my database who don't already have an
existing source citation for the SSDI. So...

I'd like to produce a search list of all the people in my database with 2
conditions:

   1. They died after 1950 (or some death year)

   2. They do not already have a source citation for the Social Security Death
Index

I can produce a list of those that already HAVE the SSDI source citation, but I
can't figure out how to produce a list for those who DO NOT HAVE the source
citation.

I am using the Search --> Find --> Detailed Search screen.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
