If I can reinstall .142 then why would I not be able to restore a backup made 
with version .142?  I would not want to use GEDCOM because it would not handle 
the source writer sources properly.

Would it be possible to export it as a Legacy gedcom, delete .154, install .142 
then import the gedcom?
