Hi Ron - I was just about to reply saying that I had found the problem as
you stated. I have never set the option to show extra blank children so
never thought to look for it.

Kay,
This might be too simple but look at the setting of "Children of each
spouse" under Report Options where you can set "Extra blank children".  That
allows for those extra empty fields on the reports where it is used like the
family group sheets.  It can be set to zero.
