Hello Pat,

In the main window of Legacy, check the status bar where you should see the
RIN and MRIN for that individual.
The 'H:' and the 'M:' should have blank entries leaving only the 'W: ' with
a number.
If 'M:' has a number next ot it, it means there is a marriage created for
your female.
To remove it, press 'CTRL+M' or select 'Marriage List' from the view menu.
A new window containing a marriage list should appear and the offending
marriage should be selected in blue. Check to see if the MRIN number on the
left corresponds with the number next to the 'M:' on the status bar. If
they do you can delete this marriage link by selecting the 'Options' at the
bottom of the marriage list and then selecting 'Remove the marriage link'.

Once this has been done you can open the individuals editing screen and the
never married option should be available.

Remember however, should you in the future ever choose any of the icons on
the marriage info bar, like say the 'marriage notes', 'marriage sources' or
'marriage pictures, sounds and video', a new marriage link is created and
the 'never married, had no children' option will once again be grayed and
non-selectable even though no husband was added. Even if you did not save
or add anything, a new marriage link WILL be created.
So be careful to not add a marriage note for example to explain that she was
never married.

Cheers,

Subject: [LegacyUG] Indiv "never married" option unavailable

I have an individual (female) who was "never married" & had no known
children.  I have NO info & NO citations entered for either a spouse or
marriage & yet the Indiv "never married" option is whited out & hence
unavailable.

I have closed & reopened Legacy but the option remains whited out.

What do I need to do to get it back again??

Thanks,

Pat
